Keep these tips in mind. Make a list of all clothing you
may need. If you live close to home, you may want to keep
heavy sweaters and coats at home until the weather changes.
Consider packing easy-to-care-for clothing; dry cleaning may
not be available or convenient or may not fit within your
student budget. Take a few nicer, fun ‘evening’ items
for those campus parties. However, make sure the bulk of
your clothing is comfortable. You will be putting in long
hours at the library so comfort is critically important.
Think ‘layering’. Your classrooms may be over-heated but
the library may feel like a freezer! Don’t forget to
pack some work out clothing including your running shoes:
you will want to avoid gaining the famous ‘freshman
15’. If you are driving to school, pack your clothing
in storage containers. You will save on the number of boxes
that you use plus you can use the containers for storage in
your room. If you are shipping your stuff, make sure the
items are packed properly using the correct packing
materials. These items can be purchased at your local
‘pack and ship’ store. Be smart about what you
ship—don’t spend $40 to ship a $50 room fan. If
possible, try to purchase these type of items at stores
close to campus.Off If you are not traveling to school by
car, purchase items such as toiletries at stores near campus
to save on shipping bills. Don’t over pack! Dorm rooms
are very small with little storage. Ask yourself –‘do I
really need to take this’ when packing.

Virgin Voting™ is a short documentary created by 15-year
old filmmaker Noah Gray to motivate young people to vote in
the 2008 presidential election. In this film, Gray goes
behind the scenes at presidential debates, forums, and
events and interviews almost all of the candidates from both
the Democratic and Republican parties, or their surrogates,
and asks them to give “virgin voters” advice on how to
choose their next President. He also interviews college
students, who share their views on how they plan to go about
choosing which candidate to vote for, as well as what issues
are important to them. The film shows how 18- to 24-year
olds have the power to elect the next President of the
United States.
